Security Guarding – SIA-approved course

As a result of the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, a Security licence is required when security guarding activity that does not come beneath the descriptions of door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, or public space surveillance (CCTV) is carried out to monitor the activities of a member of the public or private place; or to identify a particular person

So, to gain the Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry (QCF), and in order to obtain a licence, learner will need to attend a training course for a minimum of 18.5 contact hours – as stipulated by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) – and pass the examination in all modules.
